CAD

The CAD group is an important part of Team 675's design process. After kickoff the CAD team busily works to turn paper designs into 3D drawings. These drawings are used throughout Build Season to adjust the position of elements on the robot and to make room for improvements on the design. The CAD Team uses Solid Works under the guidance of one of our mentors, Larry.

Goals

  • CAD the robot before it is built by being present for the design process and CAD all of the ideas as they come up

  • Submit CAD Award on time by assigning small parts of the robot to be CAD-ed by each person and setting a schedule as to when each part should be completed. This date will be before the due date which will allow a few days for adjusting parts of the robot and putting all of the pieces together.

  • Acquire a trained CAD/Animation mentor from SRJC or Autodesk

  • Train members on the CAD software by using the built in tutorials in the program as well as the online tutorials at autodesk.com and possibly by taking classes at the Santa Rosa Junior College.

  • Recruit and train new members for the CAD Division
